Direct Backlight and Edge Lit Backlight

There are two kinds of backlight structure, one is direct backlight, the other is edge lit backlight. The light source of the direct backlight structure is located at the bottom, which is a surface light source with a certain structure. The commonly used light sources are EL and lattice LED. In the edge lit backlight structure, the light source is located on the side of the light guide plate, which can be divided into single side, adjacent side, opposite side, three sides and four sides according to the number of light sources. The common light sources are CCFL and LED. The mixing of direct backlight is carried out in the process of light travel, generally only by increasing the thickness of the mixing cavity to improve the uniformity of the output light. The edge lit backlight mainly controls the brightness and uniformity of the outgoing light through the light guide plate. The backlight can be made very thin through the reasonable design and manufacture of the light guide plate. In particular, the thickness of the light guide plate of the LED edge lit backlight can be less than 2.0 mm, which can meet the development needs of some market products.
